urbAn fringE is a new Paul Mitchell Focus Salon in Chapel Hill.
Owned by two National Educators with John Paul Mitchell Systems
who truly love what they do. Special attention is given to every
detail of your visit with us.
Owned by Amanda Kernodle and Emily McClure who started their careers together. Driving 2 hrs each way to cosmetology school the two often dreamed of opening a salon. The name urbAn fringE was thought up of 3 years prior to their dream becoming a reality. The A in urbAn is capitalized for Amanda and the E in fringE is capitalized for Emily. Together they combine their years of experience, love of the industry and limit less support given to them by being a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon to make your visit an experience worth repeating! Green Theory Amanda and Emily have tried to think green since beginning their urban fringe project. They recycled 95% of the materials left in the salon and installed a tankless hot water heater to conserve energy. They encourage guest to bring back their shampoo bottles for refills in an effort to create less waste and bring in their own travel mugs for a fill up at the salon coffee bar. They are members of Matter of Trust, an organization which collects and uses hair clippings to create mats which help absorb oil from petroleum spills. They are constantly looking at other ways to be a friend to the environment. Amanda Kernodle: Amanda trained under some of the top stylists in the area. She has been a licensed cosmetologist in North Carolina for 11 years, she also has her cosmetology instructors license and is licensed in Virginia as well. She has been a National Educator with John Paul Mitchell Systems for almost two years. Emily McClure: Emily is a licensed cosmetologist in North Carolina and Virginia. Top stylist in the area served as great mentors to guide her along the way. She has been a Nation Educator with John Paul Mitchell Systems for almost two years. Tabitha Thompson: Tabitha is a licensed nail tech who has brought her experience of 15+ years to the urbAn fringE staff. Tabitha specializes in natural nails and has most recently been trained with the minx system. Emily and Amanda have had the pleasure of working with Tabitha for 8 years and are excited to have her at urban fringe. Taylor Cannady: Taylor is a Mebane, NC native trained at the Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill. She has been a licensed cosmetologist in NC for four years. Taylor joined the urbAn fringE team in October of 2010. Her highlighting skills are top-notch. Megan McIntyre: Megan is from Milford, MI. She trained at the David Pressley School of Cosmetology in Royal Oak, Michigan. Megan moved to NC and joined the urbAn fringE team in October of 2010. She is a precision hair cutter with a flare for color. Erica Taylor: Erica is a licensed Nail Tech. She specializes in Gel Nails and gives a lot of attention to detail. She does pedicures and manicures as well. |
